Police arrest suspect involved in burglary

---- — Elkhart County sheriff’s deputies arrested 49-year-old William Kalady of Elkhart in connection with a Saturday burglary that occurred at Yeoman Machinery, 28423 Old U.S. 33 in Elkhart. Police had earlier asked for the public’s help in locating a suspect in the burglary who had left the scene in a Dodge pickup truck.

Deputies responded to the business at 11:24 a.m. Saturday after witnesses observed people at the business.

Crash injures one

A two-vehicle crash injured a Shipshewana boy Saturday at 2:28 p.m. on C.R. 35 near C.R. 36 north of Millersburg.

According to Elkhart County police, a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina driven by Karl F. Yoder, 17 of Shipshewana, was driving south on C.R. 35 when he lost control of his vehicle on the ice and snow covered road and the car spun and struck a northbound 2003 Chevrolet pick up driven by Bruce E. Hoffman, 60, of Middlebury.

A passenger in Yoder’s vehicle, Nathan Lee Miller, 17, of Shipshewana, was treated at the scene for a lacerated ear, according to police.

Police cited Yoder for conditions requiring driving at a reduced speed and a learner’s permit violation.

Drug/alcohol arrests

Katherine E. Dickerson, 20, 54357 C.R. 5, Elkhart, was cited on a charge of illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor following a traffic stop around 1:22 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of south Third Street in Goshen. According to police she was released from the scene with a court date.
