Police seek to identify burglary suspect

---- — The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in a burglary Saturday.

According to police, officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at an abandoned building in the 28000 block of Old U.S. 33 in Elkhart around 11:27 a.m. One man was detained by police but another man fled the area.

Police say the man who fled is in his early 50s, and he drove away in a red and gray 1992 Dodge Dakota pick up truck with temporary Indiana registration reading D801818. The truck had a broken taillight.

Anyone with information on the vehicle or its driver should contact the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department at 574-533-4151.

Theft/burglary reports

Goshen police reported a tool bag was stolen out of a truck belonging to North Side Appliance, 1920 Elkhart Road, Goshen, between 6 and 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Fraud reported

• Richie Worman, 33, Albion, told Goshen police Friday that someone obtained his payroll check and cashed it on Dec. 27.

• Rhonda Drummond, 62, told Goshen police that there was fraudulent activity on her debit card on Friday.

Fight investigated

Goshen police responded to 108 Olive St., Goshen around 12:38 a.m. Saturday to a report of a fight. Officers spoke with all parties involved and found that a residential entry and battery occurred. No arrests were made.
