Man jailed for falsely accusing cop of murder

A Kosciusko County man is currently behind bard after falsely accusing a North Webster police officer of committing murder.

According to Kosciusko County police, officers were contacted in May regarding conducting an investigation into allegations made against a current North Webster police officer. Officers were advised by North Webster Town Marshall Greg Church that he had been contacted May 30 by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations. Tennessee law enforcement officials stated that they were emailed information earlier in the month by a Kosciusko county resident, identified as Michael Roy Wiggins, 32, North Webster, who stated that he had information into the disappearance of Holly Bobo, 22, from Darden, Tenn. Wiggins accused North Webster officer David May of taking his department squad car to Tennessee, abducting Bobo with the use of tranquilizers, murdering her, and then burying her body on a farm yard in Kosciusko County.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department detectives began the investigation by verifying that May was actually on duty and taking calls on the accused date by Wiggins. Further investigation revealed that May’s mileage would not substantiate the accusations. Investigators also discovered that Wiggins had been previously arrested in October 2011 by May on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated as well as driving with a suspended driver’s license in May 2013, eight days prior to his accusatorial email to Tennessee police officials. K.C.S.D. detectives concluded that Wiggins’ actions were in revenge toward May and arrested him Monday on felony charges of obstruction of justice-making/using false record and felony false informing-alleging officer misconduct. Wiggins is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $100,000 bond. The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was assisted in the investigation by detectives from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations and the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
