Couple arrested

on drug charges

Two Kosciusko County residents were arrested on drug charges and other charges after a traffic stop in Syracuse Monday.

According to a report by Syracuse Police Chief Anthony Ciriello, police stopped a driver for disregarding a stop sign Monday.

Police then learned the driver, Kristina Garman, 24, Syracuse, had a suspended driver’s license and an outstanding warrant for her arrest from a Kosciusko County court.

A passenger, Scott Baldwin, 27, Cromwell, was reportedly found in possession of methamphetamine.

Also in the car were two children, ages 5 and 3, police said.

In a search of the car, police reportedly found precursors used to make meth in a backpack in the seat with the children.

Child Protective Services were called and placed the children with relatives.

Garman and Baldwin were arrested on charges of possession of the drug precursors, possession of methamphetamine, neglect of a dependant and the warrant for her arrest. Both were held in the county jail on $10,000 bond, according to police.



Man arrested after Warsaw store robbery

A rural Warsaw man was arrested after an armed robbery at a pharmacy late Monday evening.

According to a report by Warsaw police, David E. Buell, 30, 5019 E. 300 North, Warsaw, is accused of robbing the Walgreens pharmacy at 2400 E. Center St. at 9:43 p.m. Monday. The robber carried a shotgun and robbed the store of three bottles of Oxycontin.

The robber reportedly fled the scene in a red Chevrolet pickup truck that was reported as stolen by Buell’s brother, Dan, about 30 minutes before the pharmacy robbery.

According the report, when Dan Buell reported to police that his brother had returned his truck, police went to the home and found David Buell. After a brief foot pursuit, police found the drugs and arrested David Buell. Police found the shotgun in the truck, the report said.

Buell was charged with armed robbery, a Class B felony, and theft, a Class D felony. Police said all the stolen drug was recovered, except for one tablet that the robber consumed.

Police said Buell has a previous robbery conviction from Zales Drug Store in Warsaw in 2004.



Gunshot reported

Goshen police received a report of a gunshot hitting a house Tuesday.

According to a city police report, Laura Henderson, 101 Olive St., reported at 4:06 p.m. Tuesday that someone shot at her home.

The incident is under investigation by police.



Teen arrested

for battery

A juvenile who is accused of hitting another teen-ager at Northridge High School Tuesday morning was arrested and placed in juvenile detention.

According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, a 16-year-old boy struck another 16-year-old at Northridge, Middlebury, Tuesday morning. Police said the suspect was incarcerated for misdemeanor battery.

Tip leads to arrest

Acting on an anonymous tip, Elkhart County Sheriff’s officers located and arrested an Elkhart man wanted on a warrant Tuesday.

According to a sheriff’s report, Justin Badman, 33, 222 N. Michigan, Elkhart, was found at a home in the 500 block of Woodlawn Avenue in Elkhart, at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday. He was wanted on a warrant for being a habitual traffic violator, a Class C felony.

Police said they discovered Badman possessed marijuana. He was charged with that offense also, a Class D felony. He was held at the county jail without bond.



DWI arrest

• According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle driven by Manda E. Connell, 31, 2301 W. Lexington, Elkhart, was stopped at Lexington and Vine Street at 4 a.m. Wednesday. The driver reportedly failed a blood-alcohol test and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was booked at the county jail.
