Goshen man arrested for battery



A Goshen man was charged with battery after city police were called to his home at 6:50 p.m. Monday.

According to a Goshen police report, Jeffery Stump, 40, 715 S. 11th St., was arrested and charged with domestic battery and possession of drug paraphernalia Monday evening. He was booked at the county jail on the charges.

Woman arrested for stealing $78 in merchandise



An Elkhart woman was jailed on a theft charge after she was accused of stealing $78 in merchandise from Meijer, 4522 Elkhart Road, at 3:20 p.m. Monday.

According to a report by Goshen police, Maricela Lopez, 47, 241 Thorndale Road, Elkhart, was accused of taking merchandise from the Meijer store. She was arrested on a charge of theft and booked at the county jail.

Juvenile strikes teacher during fight



Two students at Concord Junior High School were removed from the school after they were involved in a fight at the school about 1 p.m. Monday.

According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, the two juveniles began a verbal altercation and pushed each other. One of the juveniles then struck a teacher and fought with staff. That student was removed to juvenile detention pending a hearing and the second students was released to a parent.

Man booked on outstanding warrant



A Bristol resident was arrested on a warrant when Bristol police went to his home to check a vehicle registration at 10 a.m. Oct. 29. Bristol police said they arrested James Harroff, 46, 53586 C.R. 27, #137, Bristol, on Oct. 29 on a 2001 warrant from Elkhart Superior Court 5. He was booked at the county jail and held on $300 bond.

DWI arrests



• A driver stopped by Bristol police for not having a license plate light was arrested on an alcohol charge at 1:45 a.m. Sunday at Bristol.

According to a report by Bristol police, a vehicle driven by Melanie Edlund, 32, 19270 C.R. 104, Bristol, was stopped at Vistula near Apollo at 1:45 a.m. Sunday. She was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. She was booked at the county jail.

• Bristol police reported they arrested Robert Smiecinski, 53, 17069 Tomahawk Trail, White Pigeon, Mich., at 5:50 p.m. Oct. 25 after he was stopped for speeding at Ind. 15 and Commerce Drive. He was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated and booked at the county jail.
