Bomb treat called in

to Elkhart courts building

A bomb threat was received by an Elkhart County employee working at the County Courts Building, 315 S. Second St., Elkhart, at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday.

According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, an employee received a bomb threat by telephone. The caller said there was a bomb on the second floor of the building.

According to the sheriff’s report, a search of the building failed to turn up any bomb.



Goshen man arrested

Ohio authorities arrested a Goshen man on drug charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 70 west of Columbus, Ohio, on Sept. 30.

Wiliam Cruz, 350 Stoner, Apt. A, Goshen, was charged with drug possession. He reportedly was in possession of 30 methamphetamine tablets and $950 in cash when stopped. He is being held in the Tri-County Regional jail on $15,000 bond.



Man jailed on battery charge

A Goshen man was jailed on battery charges after police were called to his apartment at 9 p.m. Tuesday.

According to a Goshen police report, Johnny D. Lee, 30, 1811 Westplains Drive, apt. B-2, was arrested on charges of domestic battery and resisting arrest, both Class A misdemeanors. He was booked at the county jail.



Elkhart women arrested after chase

An Elkhart woman was jailed on three charges after a traffic stop and a short chase at 1:23 a.m. Wednesday east of Elkhart.

According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle driven by Kristen M. Mora, 27, 28855 Frank Court, Elkhart, was stopped at C.R.s 6 and 9 early Wednesday.

She was charged with resisting law enforcement, a Class D felony, possession of cocaine and driving while her license was suspended. She was booked at the county jail. Bond was set at $10,000.



Hit and run crash

Goshen police were called to a hit-and-run crash at Fifth and Middlebury streets at 7:47 a.m. Tuesday.

According to a Goshen police report, Joshua Vales, 21, 1525 Osolo Road, Elkhart, said his vehicle was involved in a crash with a small, tan Ford van before the driver left the scene. A headlight from the van was found at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.



Theft reports

• Goshen police received a report Monday of a burglary at the Conroy Building, 1302 E. Monroe St.

According to a Goshen police report, a burglary was reported at 5:33 p.m. Monday at the Conroy Building.

No details of the incident were given.

• Cigarettes were stolen from a downtown Goshen store late Monday night.

According to a Goshen police report, someone broke a window with a rock at Best Food Mart, 224 N. Main St., at 11:35 p.m. and stole 40 packs of cigarettes.

The break-in is under investigation.
