Driver hurt when vehicle strikes pole
An Elkhart driver was hospitalized in a Fort Wayne hospital after a one-car crash at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday along Ind. 15 in Kosciusko County.
According to a report by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s officers, Jerimiah L. Bratcher, 31, Meadow Glen Drive, Elkhart, was found inside a vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole along Ind. 15 near Claypool. He was freed from the wreckage and taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital before being transferred to Lutheran Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was listed in serious but stable condition, sheriff’s deputies reported.
Patrons eat and run
Two reports of customers not paying a restaurant bill were made to Goshen police Tuesday.
John McCarty, manager of Hacienda, 618 W. Lincoln Ave., reported Tuesday that on Sept. 22 two men left the restaurant without paying for meals.
At 6 p.m. Tuesday the staff at Hacienda reported a customer did not pay for his meal that day.
The incidents are under investigation.
Goshen driver arrested
A Goshen driver was arrested after a traffic stop by Goshen police at 7:32 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Summit Street.
According to a report by Ptl. Nick McCloughen, Larry Leach, 22, 403 Nicklaus Drive, was charged with fleeing in a motor vehicle and also arrested on two Elkhart County felony warrants. He was booked at the county jail.
Woman arrested at Goshen store
A Mishawaka woman was arrested at Meijer, 4522 Elkhart Road, at 9 p.m. Monday on charges of theft and false informing.
According to a Goshen police, Victoria Urbanski, 20, 617 W. Battell St., Mishawaka, was charged with the two offenses late Monday. Two other suspects in the case have not been located, according to Ptl. Nick McCloughen.
Man arrested, hospitalized after crash
A Ligonier man was hospitalized after a crash during a police chase at 6:14 p.m. Tuesday at U.S. 6, just east of the city.
According to a report by Noble County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Willett, Elvis Hall, 20, was driving a 1993 Pontiac east on U.S. 6, one-half mile east of Ligonier, when he lost control of the car and the vehicle went off the north side of the road and rolled onto its side in a ditch.
The driver had back pain and a cut on his head. He was treated at the scene by Noble County EMS and then flown to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Deputy Willett said the man was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement and possession of a concealed handgun without a permit. The Pontiac was demolished.
Teen charged with theft,/h4>
A teen-ager was arrested on a charge of theft after he was accused of shoplifting at Walmart, 2304 Lincolnway East, Goshen, at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday. According to Goshen police, the 17-year-old boy was arrested and released to parents. He will appear in juvenile court.
Police arrest man in Goshen on drug charge
A Goshen man who was stopped while driving on U.S. 33 west of the city was arrested on a drug possession charge.
According to Goshen police, they arrested Richard P. Handshoe, 38, 720 S. Eighth St., on a charge of possession of methamphetamine after a stop in the 3600 block of Elkhart Road at 5 p.m. He was booked at the county jail.
Police arrest man in woods
A Goshen man who was accused of trying to take a stereo system from Walmart, 2304 Elkhart Road, at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, was located in a wooded area near the store after he ran from authorities.
Arrested was Jesse A. Miller, 21, 13547 Ind. 4, Goshen. He was charged with theft and resisting law enforcement. He was booked at the county jail.
Alcohol arrest
Goshen police arrested Juan Piedra, 55, 223 Brookside, Goshen, at 400 block of West Pike Street at 12:58 a.m. Tuesday, charging him with driving while intoxicated as a felony. He was booked at the county jail.
