Poly-Wood expanding, will add jobs

SYRACUSE —  A company that makes plastic outdoor furniture from recycled milk jugs is expanding.

Poly-Wood Inc., 1001 W. Brooklyn St.,recently broke ground on a 42,260-square-foot addition that will provide extra manufacturing space and also have a showroom to display the companies 26 varied styles of outdoor furniture, according to the contractor DJ Construction Co. of Goshen.

The company already has about 200,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

The addition is being constructed in the center of four existing buildings. The design incorporates a glass curtain wall with a telescoping door that opens up the showroom to the exterior, according to information from DJ.

Two other features of the building will be prismatic skylights and day lighting controls that provide energy efficiency.

Doug Rassi, president of Poly-Wood, expects to add 38 new jobs in 2014 due to the expansion.

“With this addition, Poly-Wood will be able to continue growing. Continual growth equates to more jobs in terms of employees, contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers.

Poly-Wood Inc. has been in business since 1990.
