Jennifer Miller is buying used blue jeans. Soon, she intends to resell those jeans in her new store, the Jean Shack, in Goshen.
Miller has partnered with Mike Back to open the store at 304 N. Main St., which is at the intersection of Main and Pike streets.
“Mike has one in Warsaw that is up and running and so we decided to branch out and open one in Goshen too,” Miller said.
“We realized the economy was perfect for something like this,” Back said. “There is no real competition out there.”
The Warsaw store opened July 6 and Back said business has been brisk there. That store carries about 4,500 pairs of used jeans on its racks. Miller said she hopes to have 3,000 pairs of jeans on hand when the Goshen store begins selling jeans Nov. 15. Until then the store staff is buying used jeans. Back said the store staff pays $1 to $10 for used jeans and will sell them for $7 to $15 a pair.
“Ninety-nine percent of the people wear jeans,” Back said. “And the average price for Levis is $58. We can sell those same pairs for about $10.”
