GOSHEN — A new Asian restaurant has opened in Goshen.
Sawadee Asian Cuisine, located at 1301 Lincolnway East, the location of the former Golden Monkey restaurant, opened two weeks ago and offers Thai and Asian fusion dishes, according to manager Cindy Lim.
Lim said that the owner, Kason Ye, is a Thai-Chinese immigrant who learned to cook from his father, who has a restaurant in Florida. Ye was raised in China and moved to Goshen from Florida last year, Lim said.
“(There is) no Thai restaurant here,” Lim said. “I think the people around here do like Thai food (it’s) just nobody (has) opened one.”
Lim said the menu includes Thai food and Asian fusion dishes. According to Lim, fusion dishes are mostly traditional Chinese dishes with elements of Thai and other Southeast Asian cooking methods mixed in.
“We just kind of change it a little bit,” she said.
The menu has curry dishes, Thai noodles, stir fries and other Asian dishes including dishes featuring duck.
The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday and closed on Monday. Hours are Sunday and Tuesday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
