Wholesale shipments of recreational vehicles rose 16.4 percent in March over March 2013 totals, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association.
The total units shipped were 33,678. The gain was 9.3 percent from year to year and was the best March total since 2007, according to the RVIA.
Motor home shipments had an even greater gain, rising 33.5 percent in March over March 2013. There were 4,120 motor homes shipped in March.
There were two categories of RVs that had lower shipments: folding camping trailers and truck campers. Folding campers were down 5.1 percent in March from March 2013 and truck campers were down 19.5 percent from March to March.
First-quarter RV shipments totaled 89,971 units, up 13.3 percent from the same quarter in 2013. The first quarter was also the best since 2007 for the RV industry.
