THE GOSHEN NEWS
---- — Global Caravan Technologies of Speedway has unveiled its carbon prototype luxury RV travel trailer.
The unveiling occurred Thursday at the Dallara IndyCar Factory in Speedway, across the street from the company’s research and development headquarters.
According to a company news release, the CR-1 Carbon is the world’s first all-carbon fiber, super-luxury RV for series production. GCT officials said the carbon RV offers smart control functions, high fuel economy, high strength structures and innovative designs.
“Consumer-driven innovation is at the heart of GCT’s mission,” said Harrison Ding, chairman and president of Global Caravan Technologies. “We built a transformative product through collaborations with world-class partners.”
The company, which has partnered with Dallara and Purdue University, said it employs a team of former IndyCar champions and aerospace technicians to design and build its products. Much of the investment for the product came from China, according to the company.
“GCT brings transformation to an industry we Hoosiers are already very proud of,” said Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann. “We’re very pleased to support this innovative company as it continues to grow.”
GCT plans to market its products internationally with a strong focus on China. As part of the country’s five-year plan, both central and local Chinese governments are aggressively investing in RV tourism infrastructure, according to GCT officials.
“With the continual growth of China’s middle-class, Indiana exporters are seeing strong opportunities for international trade,” said Colin Renk, executive director of the America China Society of Indiana. “Thanks to the welcoming efforts of our state’s industries and communities, we’re cultivating a China-friendly Indiana for business.”
