Woodworking business moving to Elkhart County

GOSHEN — Elkhart County Commissioners Monday approved a rezoning for a LaGrange woodworking business that will allow the business to relocate to Elkhart County.

Approved was a request by Levi Lee and Laurene Yoder, represented by Brads-Ko Engineering Inc., Goshen, for a zone map change from agriculture-1 to a detailed planned unit development A-1 . The property is located on the south side of C.R. 34, just west of Ind. 13 in Clinton Township.

“This is a business that has been in LaGrange County for about the last 18 years, and they want to relocate that business to Elkhart County,” said Barry Pharis of Brads-Ko Engineering. “We come before you with a positive staff recommendation, and a positive Plan Commission recommendation.”

In addition to the two positive recommendations for the zone map change, Pharis noted that his company also received positive responses from all landowners located near the property.

“We identified the land owners within 1,000 feet of this property and sent letters to all of them,” Pharis said. “There are seven, and all seven responded favorably to the relocation of this business to this location.”

The request was approved unanimously by the board.
