Thor ranked top motorhome brand in nation

ELKHART — Thor Motor Coach has been ranked the top motorhome brand in the nation, according to a news release from the company.

According to TMC, statistics compiled by Statistical Surveys, Grand Rapids, Mich., show the company’s motorhome brands had a 23 percent market share in 2013, making it the top-selling brand.

The company said, “The combination of retail sales from the United States and Canada clearly make Thor Motor Coach the leader as the most trusted motorhome brand for all of North America. Outstanding performance from individual models include A.C.E., the No. 1 selling Class A motorhome, and Four Winds, the No. 1 selling Class C motorhome.”

Also, TMC’s Palazzo brand of diesel motorhomes had a 200 percent increase in units retailed during 2013, the Windsport Class a had a 104 percent increase and the Tuscany brand of luxury diesel motorhomes had an 86 percent increase.

The company also said its Outlaw brand of toyhauler had a 63 percent gain in unit sales over 2012.

“We are thrilled with the results. I really believe this is testament to the team we have at Thor Motor Coach. Our product planning, engineering, sales and manufacturing personnel have all pushed themselves to create the most innovative products in the market,” said Dana Simon, vice president of sales and marketing at Thor Motor Coach.

Thor Motor Coach is a division of Thor Industries Inc. of Elkhart.

Earlier this month Thor Industries announced it would purchase and reopen a shuttered Monaco motorhome plant in Elkhart to add production capacity to keep up with demand for its TMC products.
