College Mennonite Church planning holy days events

GOSHEN — Advent worship services at College Mennonite Church will focus on the humble and simple question the people asked John the Baptist, “What should we do?”

As Christians prepare their hearts and lives for the coming of Christ, they will participate together in the rituals of Advent, seeking to answer that question together as the body of Christ.

Resources for Advent devotionals to use at home can be found at www.CollegeMennonite.org (click “Family Advent Devotional” in the “News Update” box).

Everyone is invited to attend these special holiday services:

• Christmas Pageant, Dec. 16, 9:30 a.m., sanctuary: The children and middle school students will present a Christmas Pageant, first telling the story of the Nativity and then the story of the magi. This retelling of the birth of Christ will take place during the morning worship service.

• “A Night for Rejoicing” Christmas Cantata, Dec. 16, 3 p.m., sanctuary: The College Mennonite Church Adult Choir will present a new cantata for Christmas. This festive collection of original music and lyrics, along with many familiar Christmas carols, was written by Lee and Susan Dengler. This is a free concert.

• Dec. 24, 9 p.m., Christmas Eve Service of Lessons and Carols: This candle-lighting service will include Scripture reading, carol singing, and musical selections by some of the congregation’s musical ensembles.

• Dec. 30, 9:30 a.m., Christmas Worship service: The morning worship service will include congregational carol singing and a sermon by Phil Waite, pastoral team leader. After the service, all are invited for refreshments in the Fellowship Hall. There will be no second hour classes.

• Jan. 6, 9:30 a.m., New Year’s Worship service: The morning worship service will include communion and sermon by Phil Waite, pastoral team leader. Refreshments will be served in the Fellowship Hall after the service. There will be no second-hour classes.

College Mennonite Church is located on the Goshen College campus at 1900 S. Main St. For more information, call 535-7262 or check the College Mennonite Church website www.CollegeMennonite.org.
