Goshen Mayor Allan Kauffman named his reappointments to boards and commissions during Monday’s Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
They are Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Daniel Eckelbarger; Aviation Commission, Patricia Morgan; Board of Building Appeals, J.C. Schrock; Cemetery Board, Mary Lou Hetler; Community Relations Commission, George Smucker; and the Elkhart River Restoration Association, Stuart Meade.
Other reappointments included the Plan Commission, Connie Garber and John King; Redevelopment Commission, Tom Stump, Jeremy Stutsman, and Vince Turner; Department of Stormwater Management, Allan Kauffman, Mike Landis, and Rudy Stegelmann; and Shade Tree Board, Don Minter.
In other business, board members approved a change order with Northern Indiana Construction for the Winona Trail Tunnel project.
The change order will increase the contract by $2,090 for elbow railings on the Type 2 wall mounted pedestrian railing in both the east and west stairwells. The total cost for the project with the increase amounts to $1.670,068.30 and funded with 100 percent Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality funds, except for the inclined lift portion of the project.
In other matters, the board:
• Approved an agreement with Barkes, Kolbus, Rife & Shuler, LLP for attorney services in 2013.
Jim Kolbus will receive an annual salary of $6,539, a 2 percent increase, and the same health insurance benefits as other city employees. Barkes, Kolbus, Rife & Shuler, LLP will be paid $151 per hour for all services rendered on behalf of the city or its departments provided such services are not covered by the annual salary paid to Kolbus.
The firm will be paid $195 per hour for projects where the city’s legal fees are paid from a non-city funding source.
• Approved an agreement with Ergo Resource Management Inc. for 2011 chemical usage data reports.
The reports detail the amount of chemicals stored onsite as well as chemical usages for the City’s Waste Water Treatment Plant, the Water Department/Central Garage and the old and new Street Department facilities. The compensation for the contract amounts to $7,072.50.
• Approved the rescheduling of the Board of Works Jan. 21 meeting. Due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, the Board of Works has rescheduled the Jan. 21 meeting to Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. in the Council Chambers, Police and Courts Building, 111 E. Jefferson Street. The regular meeting scheduled will resume Monday, Jan. 28.
