Traffic delays expected as rail work continues

A STAFF REPORT
THE GOSHEN NEWS

---- — Several areas of Goshen will see traffic delays due to railroad work taking place throughout the evening.

According to a press release from the City of Goshen, Norfolk Southern informed the city late this afternoon that the company has not completed all the work expected to be done today.

Because of this, crews will be working through the night.

The Goshen crossings of the Norfolk Southern Chicago rail line will be closed beginning Wednesday as new track is installed.

According to information given to the city’s engineering department by Norfolk Southern, the Monroe, Ninth and Fifth street crossings will be closed after 9 a.m. Wednesday to prepare for the work that will continue through Friday. If the railroad receives additional material for the project, the work may continue through Friday.

Norfolk Southern officials said the track replacement will begin at Monroe Street and move north to just past Greene Road. Each crossing will be closed for two to three hours as the work reaches the crossing. - See more at: http://www.goshennews.com/breakingnews/x334195511/Goshen-rail-crossings-to-close-this-week#sthash.f3U4u8mD.dpuf
