Elkhart County police have released the name of a teen-ager found dead at a Granger residence Saturday.
The girl has been identified as Tiana E. Alter, 17, Elkhart.
According to police, officers responded to a 911 call at the home at 29482 C.R. 1, Granger, at 11:18 p.m. Saturday.
At the residence, police found Alter dead in a bedroom. Sheriff’s department detectives, with the assistance of personnel from the Elkhart County coroner’s and prosecutor’s offices, began an investigation into the girl’s death. Police said the death appeared suspicious.
According to police, officers at the scene arrested a “person of interest” on unrelated charges.
Elkhart County police Capt. James Bradberry said detectives are making progress on the case, and plan to soon forward the results of the investigation to the county prosecutor’s office for review.
