Northern Indiana prosecutor arrested on drug charge

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — A prosecutor in northern Indiana has resigned following a drug arrest in Ohio.

The South Bend Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1ov6Ece ) that St. Joseph County Deputy Prosecutor John Rulli resigned Monday after police in Shawnee Hills, Ohio, arrested him over the weekend for possession of marijuana. Shawnee Hills is a suburb of Columbus, Ohio.

The Associated Press left phone messages seeking comment at a number listed in Rulli's name Wednesday.

A police report says 44-year-old Rulli ran when he saw an officer and threw something away from his pocket that he later acknowledged were marijuana and a pipe.

The prosecutor's office declined comment. Rulli had been a prosecutor since 2008.
