Milford woman co-writes book

THE GOSHEN NEWS

— Butler University student Megan Granger of Milford is co-author of a recently published children’s book on asthma, “He Huffed and He Puffed But … A Tale of a Wolf with Asthma” (Mascot Books).

Aimed at children ages 5 to 11 who have asthma, “He Huffed” tells the tale of Tim BurWulf, a mischievous wolf pup who’s hungry for bacon but can’t blow down the three little pigs’ houses because asthma attacks leave him out of breath. A doctor and a pharmacist help Tim — and readers — learn to recognize and control their asthma symptoms.

Granger worked with seven other Butler students, who contributed skills from four academic disciplines — pharmacy, education, art and marketing — to the yearlong project.

She and a fellow pharmacy major made critical contributions in the book’s description of asthma attacks and the equipment used to detect and control them, Butler officials said.

“Helping create this book has opened my eyes up to the challenges of educating young children and putting the story into words that they will understand,” Granger said.

She will graduate from Butler with a doctor of pharmacy degree in May.

“He Huffed and He Puffed But …” is available for $15.99 through the Butler Bookstore online at https://www.formstack.com/forms/butler-asthma_book.
