Millersburg man airlifted from crash scene this morning

A 26-year-old Millersburg man was airlifted to Memorial Hospital of South Bend after he was struck by a car early this morning.

According to Elkhart County Cpl. Casey Lehman, Daniel C. Yoder, 26, of Millersburg, was riding his bicycle on C.R. 40 east of Ind. 13 at 4:44 a.m. today when he was struck by a 2001 Dodge Stratus. The car was driven by Jason P. Johnson, 39, Middlebury.

Lehman reported that the car was eastbound on C.R. 40 and cross the center line, striking the bicyclist. The car had damage to its front end, hood, windshield and roof.

Yoder suffered head injuries and had further undetermined injuries. He was unconscious and was airlifted by a medical helicopter to South Bend.

Johnson was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
