Council declines to fund sidewalks near schools

GOSHEN — The Goshen City Council voted 4-3 along party lines Tuesday night to defeat a proposal to spend $62,500 on constructing sidewalks near schools in the city.

The Goshen school board had offered to split the cost of a construction project to add sidewalks as the board has had to trim its transportation budget, meaning more students will walk to school during the next school year.
