Thespians take on Agatha Christie’s ‘And Then There Were None’

EMMA — Westview Junior/Senior High School auditorium is preparing for a suspenseful evening of Agatha Christie’s mystery titled, “And Then There Were None.”

Director Shilo Flowers said the cast has been hard a work for weeks. “It is harder to fill all of our nearly 500 seats when we put on a dramatic play,” Flowers said. “But most people are familiar with Agatha Christie and the wonderful way she tells a story.”

Flowers said, although people generally prefer musical concerts and plays, every year the school offers a drama or a comedy without music. It gives the students who don’t play and instrument, sing or dance, a chance to shine in the spotlight. The play is a murder mystery, Christie’s expertise. The plot involves 10 people who are invited to stay for a weekend at a castle on a remote island. Each person has been directly or indirectly responsible for a death of someone in their past. All of them seem to have gotten away with the dastardly deed without being held responsible. But “someone” knows their past and is now making them pay for their crimes. The play is retitled from the original, “Ten Little Indians.”

The curtain goes up at 7 p.m. April 26 and 27. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from the high school school office or at the door.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
