Slip into a comfortable pair of shoes and hit the ground running today, Friday and Saturday for the annual Shipshewana Crafter’s Fair.
This year, besides crafters, food vendors and kid’s activities, there will be continuous entertainment taking place on three stages placed around town and on the lawn near the red barn pavilion.
As in past years, the focus of this eagerly anticipated event is to feature old-fashioned, hand-crafted items.
Shoppers will also be able to meet the talented craftsmen and artists who prepared each item at their booth.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. visitors can expect a wide variety of activities to keep their attention.
Among the attractions will be watching apple butter being made over open fires, a blacksmith bending iron, an old time grain thrasher, a bull whip champion, pony rides, a petting zoo, candle makers and weaving and spinning.
The visitors to the festival can park anywhere around town and jump on a shuttle to other areas. After the vendors close their tents, visitors can attend a gospel sing at 7 every evening in the Blue Gate Theater.
