A Westview High School student remained hospitalized in critical condition today following a two-vehicle crash Thursday in LaGrange County.
Jaid Rex, 16, was listed in critical at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Her sister, Mikayla Rex, 18, was listed in fair condition this afternoon.
The sisters were injured in a collision around 7:51 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Ind. 5 and C.R. 200 South near Emma. LaGrange County police said Mikayla Rex was driving a 1994 Buick Century and pulled into the path of a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by James V. Troyer, 21, Ligonier. The vehicles collided.
Westview Superintendent Randy Zimmerly said the sisters were headed to school when the wreck occurred.
Police said Rex’s view may have been obstructed by a snow pile on the southwest corner of the intersection.
