Teenagers at the Milford Public Library are going to be putting their own spin on a pop music classic in a couple weeks, as they film their own music video for Michael Jackson’s classic song “Thriller.”
According to clerk Tina Meerzo, the library’s summer collaborative reading program is themed “Own the Night” so she and the staff used that to build events for the kids, one being the overnight lock-in Aug. 2.
For the lock-in, the staff wanted to do something special, so they decided to make a music video, which will premiere at the event.
“Thriller” was chosen because “It’s the most famous zombie song,” Meerzo said.
The group has been practicing for just over a month, beginning on June 14, an hour at a time.
Kayla Connett, of Milford, is a dancer and her mother, who works at the library, got her to do the choreography for the dance.
The group has a dress rehersal on Thursday and then they will film their video on July 26.
“After it premieres at the lock-in, we might put it on YouTube,” Meerzo said. “We’ll have our 15 minutes of fame.”
Teens are still welcome to show up and be a part of the video, Meerzo said.
