Five local bands move on to semi-state

Five local high school marching bands qualified for semi-state with performances on Saturday.

In Class A competition at Chesterton High School, the Goshen Crimson Marching Band advanced by virtue of a gold rating with distinctions in all three captions — visual, music and general effect. Goshen will perform in next Saturday’s Class A semi-state at Indianapolis Ben Davis High School. Penn also advanced in Class A.

In Class B Saturday at Lafayette Jefferson High School, both Concord and Northridge advanced. Concord was awarded gold with distinction on all thee captions and Northridge was awarded gold with distinction in visual. Both bands will compete next Saturday in the Class B semi-state at Indianapolis Pike High School. Elkhart Central also advanced.

In Class C competition, also at Chesterton, Both Fairfield and NorthWood were awarded gold for their performances. Both will compete next Saturday in the Class C semi-state and Decatur High School in Indianapolis.
