Park model RV shipments rebound

The park model recreational vehicle industry showed signs of growth in January.

According to statistics released by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association, shipments of park models rose in the first two months of 2013.

According to RVIA Executive Director of Recreational Park Trailers Matt Wald, “Park trailer shipments began surging in October of 2012 and that has continued into 2013. In fact, shipments in January of 2013 were an incredible 138 percent higher than shipments reported in January 2012. Through February 2013, park model shipments are about 75 percent higher compared to the first two months of 2012.”

Park models are recreational vehicles that are designed to look like small homes. Most of the trailers are moved to campgrounds, where they stay in the same spot for several seasons and are used as vacation homes.

According to the RVIA, 2,770 units were shipped in 2012, a small improvement over the 2,761 units that the Recreational Park Trailer Industry Association (RPTIA) reported were shipped by manufacturers in 2011. The RPTIA and RVIA merged last year.

Wald indicated a number of factors are responsible for the surge in shipments, including growing interest in seasonal camping as baby boomers continue to retire, as well as a push by many campground owners to reap the benefits of making deluxe camping accommodation rentals available to their customers.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
