Pedestrian killed by train this morning

SYRACUSE — A female pedestrian was killed when she was struck by a train early this morning near Lake Wawasee.

According Kosciusko County deputies and the coroner, a female, no age or identification given, was struck by a CSX train on the east side of the lake at about 2:40 a.m. today.

Mike Wilson of the coroner’s office pronounced her dead at the scene of blunt force trauma.

Neither sheriff’s officers nor the coroner have identified the female and are still investigating her death.
