Local troops returning home this morning

Police will escort 8 buses of Marines through Elkhart County


Fifty local reserve Marines are coming home today after a 7 month-deployment in Afghanistan.

The Marines are with Engineering Company B based in South Bend. 

Marines in Company B are from across northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan.

The eight bus loads of Marines will be escorted by city and county police from Ligionier to South Bend. The convoy will be in Elkhart County between 10 and 11 a.m., making its way along U.S. 33 through downtown Goshen and Elkhart.

The Marines are expected to arrive in South Bend at about noon. The Goshen Police Color Guard will be among those welcoming troops home in South Bend.
