GOSHEN — There was plenty of face painting and fun Saturday afternoon at Goshen’s Grace Community Church in Goshen. A “luau” for people living with disabilities took place at the church and included food, games and other activities.
The Grace church community has put on the event for around three years.
“Our desire as a church is to bless families who are affected by disabilities,” organizer Coni Walters said.
Local students with disabilities are invited to attend, Walters said, and more young people take part thanks to word of mouth and parents who are pleased by the outreach effort. Walters said that as of Friday, more than 300 people were signed up to participate, making this year’s church “luau” the largest ever.
