INDIANAPOLIS – No. 1 Park Tudor found its outside shooting touch in the third quarter and takes a 65-41 lead over Westview into the fourth quarter of this afternoon’s 2A Indiana boys basketball championship game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The Panthers hit four long-range bombs in the period and added an old-fashioned three-point play from Mr. Basketball candidate Trevon Bluiett. Park Tudor is 11 for 20 from behind the arc for the game.
Westview’s Damon Hershberger got the Warriors within five, 35-30, with 7:25 left in the period on a three-point play. But the Panthers stepped on the gas after that, embarking on a 13-0 run over the four minutes to take a 48-30 lead.
Bluiett leads all scorers in the game with 27 points. Chandler Aspy leads Westview with 19.
Park Tudor used a 13-3 run to start the second quarter to pull to a 35-27 lead over Westview. Bluiett did the most damage, erupting for eight points in the first four minutes of the period as the Panthers built a 25-9 lead. Bluiett leads the state with a 35.6 points-per-game average.
Westview’s Chandler Aspy kept the Warriors in the game, battling his way inside for 10 hard-earned points, all in the last half of the second period.
Park Tudor jumped to a 12-4 lead in the first quarter after a 3-pointer by Bluiett. Park Tudor also got 3-pointers from Alex Mack and Austin Shelton.
Westview cut the lead to 12-6 on a driving layup by Jordyn Bontrager with 1:03 left in the period. Damon Hershberger accounted for the rest of the Westview scoring in the period with a pair of jumpers.
Unranked Westview and No. 1-ranked Park Tudor are both 24-4 on the season.
