UPDATE: Four people injured in four-vehicle U.S. 20 crash

GOSHEN — A four-vehicle crash injured four people north of Goshen Sunday afternoon. Police said one of the drivers involved suffered life-threatening injuries.

The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. on U.S. 20 east of C.R. 21. Elkhart County police said a 2001 Chevrolet Impala driven by Dervin Jewel, 21, Elkhart, was headed east. The vehicle went left of center and struck a westbound 2003 Ford Crown Victoria driven by KC McClain, 25, Mishawaka, head-on.

After initial collision, a westbound 1998 Ford Windstar driven by Kelsey Crandall, 22, Elkhart, collided with the Crown Victoria. A westbound 2012 Dodge Journey driven by Zachery Stanley, 22, LaGrange, also collided with the McClain vehicle.

Police said McClain suffered life-threatening injuries. He was first transported to Elkhart General Hospital and then to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Jewel suffered internal injuries and bone fractures and was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. His injuries weren’t life-threatening, according to police.

Two passengers in the McClain vehicle were also injured. Kayla McClain, 25, and Aiden McClain, 5, both of Mishawaka, suffered internal injuries and were transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.
