Two dead in morning house fire in Bristol

BRISTOL — Two people died in a fire at 526 N. Arbutus, Bristol, at 7:02 a.m. Monday.

A death investigation is being conducted by Elkhart County police into the deaths of Crissinda Kabay, 66, and Chad Russell, 42, who were found deceased near the entrance of the home, according to a press release.

Bristol firefighters responded to the call at 7:02 a.m. and police were notified of people possibly trapped inside at that time. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.

Firefighters said an initial survey of the scene does not indicate suspicious activity. However, the investigation is early at this time, police said in the release.
