New queen reigns at LaGrange County fair

THE GOSHEN NEWS

— LAGRANGE — Mackenna McGraw was crowned the 2013 Miss LaGrange County at Saturday night’s opening ceremonies of the 60th Annual LaGrange County 4-H Fair.

McGraw is from LaGrange and is the daughter of Brad and Lori McGraw. She attends Bethel College and will go on to compete at the State Fair in August.

When asked what was the most difficult part of her daughter running for queen again (she was first runner-up in 2012), Lori McGraw said, “Getting her to wax her eyebrows!”

MacKenna said,” I think girls should think seriously about entering these contests. It really helps you to get over your personal fears and all the girls get along so well. We really had no idea who was going to win, because we all were so supportive of each other. It was a lot of fun for me and I enjoyed it.

Last year’s Queen Jordon Brown was honored as a Senior 4-H Graduate and awarded two scholarships:  The Indiana 4-H Foundation Swine Scholarship and the John E. Keefus Scholarship for outstanding LaGrange 4-H student.
