— ELKHART, Ind. (AP) — Dozens of decorated fiberglass elks will soon be on display in northern Indiana's Elkhart County.
The Elk Art on Parade event begins June 21 with the initial display at Child and Parent Services offices in the city of Elkhart.
The Associated Press reports that the life-size creations, each about 5 feet high, have been customized by local and national artists. The painted elks will be placed around the county for the public to see.
The elks have been sponsored by individuals and businesses and eventually will be auctioned off to benefit Child and Parent Services, which offers parenting classes and other programs aimed at preventing child abuse.
