GC Symphony Orchestra in concert Friday

GOSHEN — The Goshen College Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Christopher Fashun, will present its spring concert Friday in Sauder Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m.

The GCSO’s program will feature works by American composers Howard Hanson, Alan Hovhannes, and Charles Ives. In addition, Fashun has selected a Latin-American piece by William Grant Still to commemorate the 90th birthday of professor of music emeritus Mary K. Oyer. Birthday cake for all attendees in honor of  Oyer will be available in the Music Center lobby after the concert.

Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and students and will be available at the door one hour before the concert. GC faculty, staff and students will be admitted free with identification.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
