Tornado watch, high winds for much of Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS — Much of Indiana already is under a tornado watch as the state braces for an outbreak of severe weather.

The National Weather Service says the tornado watch is in effect until 8 p.m. EST Sunday for all of Indiana north of a line running roughly from Jasper to Madison.

The weather service also has issued a high wind warning for much of northern Indiana, from Marion and Logansport on north. It says southerly winds will gust up to 45 mph Sunday afternoon. Winds will shift to the west Sunday evening with gusts up to 60 mph.

A wind advisory covers much of the rest of the state until 9 p.m. EST. The weather service forecasts winds of 30 mph or more, gusting to 50 mph.
