An Elkhart teen-ager’s death has been ruled a homicide, Elkhart County Coroner John White said Monday.
White also said the cause of death for Tiana E. Alter, 17, was multiple sharp-force injuries. An autopsy had been performed earlier that day.
According to Elkhart County police, officers responded to a 911 call at the home at 29482 C.R. 1, Granger, at 11:18 p.m. Saturday.
At the residence, police found Alter dead in a bedroom.
According to police, officers at the scene arrested a “person of interest” on unrelated charges.
Elkhart County police Capt. James Bradberry said detectives are making progress on the case, and plan to soon forward the results of the investigation to the county prosecutor’s office for review.
