Bethel College, Kansas (art major)

University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS. Masters in Art Education

University of Kansas. Doctorate in Art Education (Ed.D.)

Children:

All attended Goshen Public Schools and graduated from Goshen High School.

David Bartel (Ph.D. Harvard U.) is on MIT biological science faculty

Bonnie Bartel (Ph.D. MIT) is on Rice U., Houston, biological science faculty

Beth Bartel (technical writer and editor), Arlington, VA

Grandchildren: Three boys and three girls. The oldest two have finished college and are employed at Dropbox in San Fransico as a software engineer and in customer service. One is a student at New York University, two are in high school, and one is in preschool.

Hobbies:

Gardening for food and flowers. Raising trees from seedling and from seed.

Concerns: World peace, sustainability, clean air and water, community quality of life.

Last weekend (July 12) the Goshen Parks Department held its Kid’s Try-athlon to promote childhood fitness and this week (July 18) the new bicycle trail is open to the fairgrounds in Goshen, offering residents a healthy way to get to the annual agriculture exposition.
