LaGrange County downgrades status from warning to watch

LaGRANGE — LaGrange County officials have downgraded the county's emergency snow status from warning to watch.

The decision was made by the LaGrange County Commissioners, the sheriff's department, the highway department ant the county Emergency Management Agency.

A watch means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During a watch local travel advisory, only essential travel, including to and from work or in emergency situations is recommended. Also, emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies and other organizations.

Sheriff Terry Martin said, " We ask that motorist who must travel to be alert for all snow plows and snow removal equipment, towing equipment, and emergency services vehicles. If you do not have to travel, we are asking that you do not. We are also asking that calls to LaGrange County Communications be reserved to calls for service and 911. They are being flooded with calls requesting road conditions which have been tying up valuable lines for serious incoming calls."

Last weekend (July 12) the Goshen Parks Department held its Kid’s Try-athlon to promote childhood fitness and this week (July 18) the new bicycle trail is open to the fairgrounds in Goshen, offering residents a healthy way to get to the annual agriculture exposition.
