Ligonier man dies in crash Monday night

A  63-year-old Ligonier man died and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash at C.R.s 200 North and 900 West, south of Cromwell, at about 8 p.m. Monday.

According to Noble County police, killed in the crash was Willard Kauffman, 63, 3785 W. 800 South, Ligonier.

Police reported that a 1999 Dodge Caravan driven by Ashley Holt, 24, 512 Prairie Drive, Syracuse, was eastbound on C.R. 200 North when a northbound 2010 Chevrolet passenger car, driven by Kauffman, crossed 200 North on C.R. 900 West. The car went into the path of the van and was struck on the driver's side, killing Kauffman instantly, police reported.

Holt suffered neck and back pain and was taken to Parkview Hospital. Holt had two passengers in her car. One passenger, Matthew Landsaw, 32, Fort Wayne, suffered back and neck pain. Police did not say if Landsaw was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Noble County deputies were assisted by the Sparta Township Fire Department, Noble County EMS, the Cromwell Marshal's office and the Noble County coroner.
