According to Assistant Police Chief Mike McCloughen, detectives are talking to a person of interest, who was not being identified because it might jeopardize the case, in the shooting of Abdulhussain Alfartusi, 43, of Goshen.

McCloughen hopes to provide more information about the case Thursday morning.

Alfartusi was found at in the parking lot of the store Tuesday at about 5:30 with apparent gunshot wounds in the upper torso, according to a press released issued Tuesday night by McCloughen.

Alfartusi was airlifted by Med-Flight service to South Bend’s Memorial Hospital where he was listed in critical condition Tuesday night. McCloughen said his condition was stabilized as of Wednesday morning

The victim told emergency workers he was shot during an argument with another person in a parking area west of the department store.
