JAIPUR, India (AP) — Indian police say at least six people were killed and 20 others wounded in five bomb blasts that ripped through the historic city of Jaipur.
A.K. Jain, a top police official in Jaipur, said Tuesday’s explosions took place in markets and several other crowded areas. The region, Rajasthan, is dotted with palaces and ancient cities that draw hundreds of thousands of Indian and foreign tourists every year.
Rajasthan’s police chief, A.S. Gill, was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India news agency that the blasts were “obviously a terror attack.”
