Police officer will not face charges

A 31-year-old Goshen police officer accused of engaging with sexual conduct with a 16-year-old will not faces charges.

Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney Curtis T. Hill Jr. has completed his review of the Indiana State Police investigation into the conduct of Goshen Police Officer Elva Yoder.

Hill had called for the State Police investigation following reports of Yoder engaging in sexual conduct with a 16-year-old. Although the Goshen Police Department had notified the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office of the allegations, Hill said in a press release that insufficient information was provided by Goshen Police Department for the prosecuting attorney to determine whether criminal charges were warranted.

The State Police commenced its investigation in October of 2007, and turned the matter over to the Prosecuting Attorney approximately two weeks ago.
