Middlebury and Clinton Township firefighters battle a house fire at 61710 C.R. 35 outside Goshen Wednesday. The vacant house had a “decent” amount of fire, according to Middlebury Fire Chief Jeff Wogoman and lots of smoke. Wogoman estimated the crews had the fire knocked out in around 30 minutes after the call went out around 10:45 a.m. There is no official cause yet but Wogoman said they are investigating the possibility of a lightning strike. The fire started in the home’s basement. Wogoman said the home had been vacant since November when it was sold. The home was undergoing repairs by the owner.
