SNOW OVER THE WEEKEND started off Thanksgiving week in the Goshen area. There was 1.5 inches recorded at the Goshen College weather station, according to Lores Steury, weather observer. The Wallach brothers were out shoveling off the walk in front of their South Sixth Street home Sunday afternoon. Ted, 13, uses a snow shovel in the foreground, while William, 11, uses a broom and Andrew, 18, sweeps off the porch steps. A peek at the Thanksgiving Day forecast calls for dry weather with the highs in the lower 40s.

Classes at Goshen Community Schools and St. John the Evangelist Catholic School will begin the 2014-15 school year on Thursday, Aug. 7. School corporations throughout the state have been trending toward earlier start dates the past few years. When do you think school should start?
