Last week’s results

HJR-3, a proposed constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one woman and one man, was passed by the Indiana House last week, but not before a vote to eliminate a sentence pertaining to civil unions. The amendment is now in the hands of a Senate committee. The Senate can either kill the proposal, pass it in its original form, or pass it in its current form. If passed in its original language, the matter would go to voters as a referendum in November. If passed with its current language, the proposed amendment would have to work its way through another General Assembly in 2016 before going to a referendum. What do you feel should happen to HJR-3? (448 votes)

59% It should be passed by the General Assembly and put to voters in November

41% The General Assembly should vote against this proposed amendment and not put it on the ballot.
