Bert Ganshorn and Mabel Cain were married before church services April 24, 1938, at her parents’ home near Etna Green. After the ceremony, they went to church and later returned for dinner with the family.
The couple met at Mount Tabor Church of God and moved to Nappanee in 1939, where they resided at 202 John St. for the next 73 years, maintaining their business and raising their family. They retired in the early 1980s and spent 20 winters in Bradenton, Fla. The Ganshorns now reside at Waterford Senior Village in Goshen.
The couple’s family includes two children, Jerry (Sue) Ganshorn and JoAnn (Allen) Barrett, both of Syracuse, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
