Jon “Jack” and Elizabeth (Alleshouse) Oakley, Howe, are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
They were married April 17, 1954, by the Rev. Karl R. Thompson in Orland.
They will be honored at an anniversary open house today (April 27) from 2 to 4 p.m. at Brighton Chapel Church, Brighton. The couple requests no gifts.
Their children include Cindy (Marty) Detwiler and Jed (Lori) Oakley, both of Howe, Tad (Becky) Oakley LaGrange, and Troy Oakley, Pilot Point, Texas. They have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He retired in 2008 as an over-the-road semi driver. In 1995, he was inducted in to the National Private Truck Council Hall of Fame, Alexandria, Va.
She retired in 1999 after 32 years of service from Campbell’s Mushroom Farm in Howe.
The Oakleys are members of Brighton Chapel Church.
